The teachers of 2020/21 have had it tough.
And that’s putting it lightly.
They trained in their career for many years but were never prepared for anything like this.
They learned how to stimulate, nurture, gain and hold the attention of children within a classroom, a hard-won skill that takes time to perfect.
Especially as every classroom contains so many different minds, each requiring specific skills to unlock.
To transfer that to an online environment, smoothly, with no experience or practise, is no mean feat.
To cope also with the fear, the danger, the uncertainty and to never project that onto their pupils, seems an impossible task.
But they did it.
They were in, out, in, out and each time they handled it with dignity, grace and confidence despite the fact they were completely out of their depth, experience and training.
Often with hours notice of the changes.
And many of them did it whilst leading their own family through the choppy waters of home-schooling and lockdown too.
The teachers have had it tough, yes indeed.
And they deserve to be seen for going so far above and beyond what they signed up for.
Let’s see the teachers of 2020.
Each and every one of them.
They stepped up when the call came and have stayed there ever since.
