Dear February,
I was a different person when we last saw each other.
A person who thought I knew it all, who thought I had things all sewn up.
It’s been a rollercoaster since then and my world, THE world, has literally turned upside down.
Last year, I was wishing you would fly past, as I always do, to make way for the spring and the beginning of the more fun months.
This year, I’m wishing you away again but this time, it’s truly serious.
I am wishing you would whizz by and bring back my life again.
The life I had when we last met.
The life where hugs were not deadly and friends were not taboo.
The life where faces were not hidden and loved ones weren’t forbidden.
The life which was filled with cinema trips, parties, concerts and holidays.
I did not know how lucky I was.
I did not savour the final hugs because I did not ever imagine they could be taken away.
I know now.
So, February, please bring me one step closer to my old life please.
And I promise to savour every moment and be grateful, evermore, for the blessings I have.
Yours beseechingly,
Me x
