So, the latest strike of ‘The Strictly Curse’, has perhaps not broken another good woman watching from the sidelines, but actually, set her free….
As actress Rebecca Humphries states in her own words, she is not a victim.
If anything, she feels relieved…
Relieved, that she wasn’t imagining her boyfriend’s indiscretions. As much as this will be painful for her to behold, she can see that she has in fact, dodged a bullet.
As she sat at home alone, on her birthday, messaging her boyfriend, who was ‘out for an innocent drink’ with his celebrity dancing partner….she knew deep down in her stomach that this wasn’t right. That there was something going on between them.
And yet, as with so many before her, she was told to pull herself together, that she was imagining this, that she was ‘mental’, a ‘psycho’, ‘controlling’, ‘a nightmare’.
She was made to feel like it was all her fault and all in her own head.
Then out surfaced the murky truth, as photographs of the pair emerged. Kissing, cuddling, being intimate. Proof.
How many women have been there before?
This behaviour, known as ‘gaslighting’ is pretty bog standard for men who lie, for men who cheat. They turn it around and point the finger of blame at the woman – whose instincts are needling her from within.
They lie through their teeth and they break their ‘loved one’s’ spirit in the process. Until the truth comes out at last – and it pretty much always does.
So ladies, trust your instincts and do not accept that it is you who is being a ‘psycho’. It may not always be the case but if it smells bad, it pretty much always is.
And sometimes, the damage done by the loss of faith in yourself, the mistrust of your own instincts – can be worse than the damage done by the eventual break-up.
Trust your gut.
And never, never, accept second best.
Rebecca, we have your back girlfriend…and you, you have our utmost respect.
