In the chaotic wake of the Coleen Nolan/ Kim Woodburn debacle and following the news that Coleen has stepped down from all her work commitments since, due to being trolled relentlessly for allegedly bullying Kim.
Let’s talk about what bullying on TV is….
If you have a group of people with one belief/opinion, who are all connected/friends/related/whatever – and you pit them against an individual who is known to be actively against those opinions/connections in order to film a television debate for ratings…
You are setting up a bullying playground.
It’s is quite simply, a numbers thing.
Am I blaming Coleen and the other Loose Women? No.
It is hard to see where this argument begins and ends and it’s a personal thing between them as far as I am concerned. They both seemed as bad as each other to me and Kim is entirely known for her volatile nature.
However, I am blaming the producers of the show.
Because, quite simply, knowing the history and the nature of the guest that day and the fact that it was 4 against 1 – IT WAS NEVER GOING TO END IN ANY OTHER WAY.
And now death threats and an online tirade of abuse, have brought down a rather vulnerable woman, who probably had no idea what she was in for.
Loose Women should be held accountable and some guidelines should be set for future reference.
It is not okay to exploit people’s weaknesses/mental health/ vulnerability, to boost ratings.
It needs to stop.
So, instead of taking sides and pointing fingers at each party involved, how about we all join together and attack the ‘powers that be’ who set these programmes up?
Are you with me?
Pass It On.
