Dear You (Me),
Today I am calling time. I am calling time on this lockdown you have us on.
You know what – you are not perfect and news-flash, you never will be. Get over it already.
Perfection is a myth. You are human, some days you rock and other days you roll, quite literally actually; out of bed and through the day like a clueless walrus.
But on the days that you rock, you are a sight to behold.
You are strong and capable, you are brave, and caring, you – are someone worth knowing.
And I know you better than anyone. Sure, you try to drown me out a lot. You shush me up on a daily basis and even when you look back and realise I called it, you still don’t trust me the next time I give you the heads up that something is not right – or worse, that something is really very right, for you, but you won’t go for it.
So I am calling time.
Yes, I guess you may be killing it out there in the world as a responsible adult, functioning in society. You pay your bills, you tick the right boxes – job, house, car….respectable member of society etc etc- all that stuff – you have down, most of the time.
But what about your LIFE, you realise the word itself means TO LIVE right?
We are not here to fit into boxes and walk a treadmill till we die!
We are here to blaze a trail.
To freaking LIVE.
To bring a little spark of something to this world that wasn’t there before. We all have one, each one is different.
Let’s see yours now please.
Let me out.
I am done letting you cruise through the days on auto-pilot. I miss the joy. I miss the exciting moments when you take my lead and seize the day. I worry you will coast through your best years paying off your mortgage and saving for your retirement and worrying what other people think of you.
The right people will see you. Straight away. The others won’t and that’s just fine, they are NOT your people.
Stop living to fit in and start living….
If you don’t, I’m sorry but I will have no choice. I will rear up from deep inside of you and blow the whole charade to smithereens. I can totally do that you know, never underestimate me…
What’s it to be?
Let me out. Let me in and let’s start living a life we will want to tell the story of…”Remember that time I worked over-time for a month and paid off an extra 0.02% of my mortgage?”
No thank you.
Let’s make some memories worth remembering.
Yours with respect, but little patience,
Your Inner Voice.
