THE WISE OLD WOMAN
I once met a wise old woman,
whose face spoke of many hard years
She was eager to part me her wisdom
and her words surely moved me to tears.
‘Put it down’ she said with great passion
‘That load which you’re carrying there
It was only supposed to be fleeting
But you’ve born it for all these long years.’
‘What load’ I inquired with surprise
For my hands were as empty as air.
She placed her hand straight on my heart
‘It’s the load that you have right in there.’
‘Let it go now my child and be free
Don’t wear yourself thin like I did.
It’s okay to drop it and leave it.
Place it down now and go out and live.’
