A LETTER FROM A NARCISSIST, IT’S NOT ME, IT’S YOU…

It’s not me, it’s most definitely you.

You see, you made me feel like I had found the perfect person – the answer to my prayers –  my dream come true. Someone worthy of me at last. But then you slowly let me see what you really are underneath and I was sorely disappointed with you.

Every single day.

You failed to change and become who I wanted you to be – and anyway, even if you had tried harder – I would never have been happy with you. It would never have been enough. Nothing could ever be enough for me. No matter what you give me I will take much more besides and I will never feel satiated.

I will always want more and my appetite will only get bigger.

You see life is a game to me and one which I play very well indeed, for I feel no remorse and no regret. In fact. I am incapable of seeing anything other than the thrill of the twist and the satisfaction from your pain.

I was born blind to my own faults and no breaking of any heart will ever open my eyes or encourage me to look within.

I am a master puppeteer and an ace gamer and against me, you can never win. The only way to contest me at all, is to refuse to play. But you played. And you gave. And I took.

Your self-worth, your friends, your hobbies, your life.

I took it all away piece by piece.

And now that you are worthless to me, I will forget you, until perhaps one day when I see your light reignited and I feel the urge of the sport again.

Perhaps then I will come back for another round.

And you will play with me again won’t you?

So darling, cry me a river and watch me sail along it, to the next bountiful beauty spot that catches my eye.

I’d say it has been fun but really it was too easy, you were too easy. I hope my next opponent is more of a challenge.

Goodbye.

It’s not me, it’s most definitely you.
