Make A Blessing Bag And Help The Homeless Survive The Winter

Advertisements

We are a seriously nice bunch of people here at Ladies Pass it On: a recent photo I posted (which suggested filling any old spare handbags you have with must-have items and gifting to the next homeless woman you see), was shared so many times that I thought I would make it into a post we can all work from.

A spot of research tells me that there are many small organisations all over the world whose aim is to do this and whilst it is hard to be specific since our readership is worldwide, it’s very easy to find your local organisation by googling ‘blessing bags for the homeless’ or similiar.

Here is what we are advised they need the most for the upcoming bad weather months:

A bag of any weather-proof description (hold-all/backpack the best of all)
Warm socks
Scarf
Hat
Gloves
Toothbrush/paste
Snacks (cereal bars/nuts etc)
Non perishable food
Sanitary products
Soap
Chapstick
Wet wipes
Plastic bags for wet socks/clothes

Extras:
Notes with an inspirational message may just make someone’s life a little better – everything is worth a try and there is nothing to lose – perhaps a book with a great message?
Thermal underwear
Bus pass/train pass
Vouchers for restaurants or supermarket
Waterproof cagoule in a pack
Coat
Phone tokens
Paper, envelopes and stamps to reach out to a loved one, it could make all the difference.

WHAT TO DO:

You can drop these off with your local organisation for the homeless, some food banks also accept bags. Likewise you can head off into town and hand it out yourself. These things are not always easy to do but in the run up to the festive season it truly is a wonderful gesture and could make so much difference to one person in need.

Do let me know if you have done this ladies, I would love to hear from you.
