HARVEY WEINSTEIN IS THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG…
A very old iceberg that’s melting fast.
It is only right and extremely fitting, that this subject be discussed on this page ladies…
Women uniting together and supporting each other will now bring about the end of an era, the death of the dinosaurs and a ‘network’ of ‘connections’ that no longer has a place in our evolving society.
There has been a shift in Hollywood, in the corporate world and in all walks of the entertainment industry.
And about time too.
For years, women have put up with bad behaviour and much worse, in fear of being branded ‘trouble’.
It’s about who you know after all. A lashing out too early in an actress’s career could put a match to the whole bonfire.
As a result, too many women felt they had no choice but to keep it to themselves.
Not any more.
There are some seriously talented and creative people out there who have been allowed to get away with far too much because they have reached a pinnacle of power. Well you know the trouble with reaching a pinnacle? It just takes a few loose rocks to start a landslide and the whole thing comes crashing down.
And I for one am enjoying watching that thing tumble.
Don’t get me wrong, the stories emerging are truly upsetting and I feel real rage listening to what Harvey Weinstein has got away with over the years, but, I have been there and I know that unfortunately he is just one of many. A very very seriously sick example of the many. A man who has needed professional help for a very long time but everyone was too scared to do anything about it.
There are countless others like him.
Hollywood is filled with fear today as fingers start pointing and empowered women stand up and speak up.
It’s not just Hollywood either.
In Britain we recently saw a list of favourite old-school stars taken to task over their heinous behaviour many years ago. Some extremely guilty, some less so but caught up in the angry waves.
The bottom line is simple, We won’t stand for it anymore.
Just because you have made it in your industry does not mean you can lord your power over those starting out and use it to satisfy your perverted desires. It is utterly ridiculous and unthinkable and yet it has been the unspoken norm for a long time.
For all those men out there complaining that ‘we don’t know what to say or do, in order not to offend women anymore or be accused of harassment’, it is really, very simple…
You do not touch me, anywhere, or ask me to touch you.
You do not ask me to look at you naked, at any time.
I do not want to have any kind of sexual relations with you to further my career in any way.
If you find me in any way attractive, great, but keep that to yourself I have no need to know about it.
Do your job, let me do mine and with common respect we will get on just fine.
Foir those women who have spoken up, BLAMING THE FEMALES. THis kind of victim shaming is archaic, disgraceful and worse, enables these ill individuals to do so much worse. Shame on you.
Ladies, if you have experienced anything like this, I want to hear from you.
The time is now…
